Welcome to Horizons!
Horizons Dance Conservatory has been committed to providing the highest quality dance education that Berks County has to offer since 2007. Our experienced instructors work with each student, developing their skills while fostering a passion for movement & teaching important life lessons along the way.
Dance is where artistry and athleticism meet, and this theme carries throughout all classes taught at Horizons Dance Conservatory. Students receive the type of training that turns them not only into successful dancers, but also into accomplished human beings, prepared to achieve whatever they set their minds to.

Horizons has always upheld the concept of quality over quantity. Dancers are not machines and are not meant to be replicas of the mover next to them. At Horizons, we prize the artist and each unique voice over all else.
Therefore, I listen to my instincts and make adjustments where I see fit. I remain a proponent for all artist practitioners and educators, and thus, I stay true to myself. The original studio space no longer felt like mine; I craved a harmonious experience in a warm, inviting haven. This is not to say that the previous location was anything short of memorable, but as someone who studied the Phenomenon of the Unknown for two years, the urge for disorganization and entering that which was not known became the goal.
Creatures of habit fail to grow and no matter our ages, growth is an important aspect of the continuation of one's artistic praxis.

Artist Statement
Donielle Bailey Horst's body of work is an elliptical exploration of thoughts, words, and actions. Just like the three dots of the ellipsis ( ... leading the viewer to sit and contemplate What's Next), her multimodal inquiries are abstruse, unfolding via explorations of the unknown. Donielle's practice-based-research embodies space, time and energy--an interplay between concepts, expressions, and physical feats. Similar to theatre dance, she combines choreography, storytelling, and auditory accompaniment, ranging from the anticipated musical to impromptu conversations to the expanse where sound disappears.
Guided by a methodology of play, Donielle's work reveals a window back to youthful exuberance, where disorganization leads to new discoveries. Disembodied environments (surroundings separate from the physical body) offer elements of chance, imagination, and emergence unique to each exploration.
An articulate entity, Donielle draws upon her background as Educator, Choreographer, Writer, Entrepreneur, and Movement Practitioner, supported by a heavily heuristic approach and centered upon her lived experience. With interests ranging from philosophy (Plato's teachings), the literature of Virginia Woolf (stream of consciousness technique), the Contrology of Joseph Pilates (suspended state of consciousness), and the quantum physics of Dr. Joe Dispenza (connection of minds), the thematic content of her repertoire encapsulates the observer in a crossmodal world--hypnotic, thought-provoking, and infinitely inquiring ...
